World Environment Day at AECS Layout

We celebrated the World Environment Day on June 5th by organizing a small function with the Corporator of our area Mr. Sridhar Reddy visiting the B Block garden and planting a sapling. The function also coincided with a major cleanup of the garden under the supervision of our corporator. At last the garden got the cleaning it deserved.

The function was literally hijacked by the residents and turned into a session for bombarding the Corporator with the problems faced by the residents ranging from Water supply problems to street dogs menance. As usual, our corporator answered each and every query and put up a plan of action, which had a time frame attached to it. Have to just wait and watch when it will happen and fulfilled.

    McDonalds at Brookefields

mcdonaldsFinally, we have Mc Donalds in our neighborhood. The new Mc Donalds started couple of days back in the new Vijayalakshmi Square Complex, just next to KHT Motors.  Compared to other outlets, this is quite big, and can be labelled as one of the biggest McDonalds in Bangalore.

Last visit, I found the place to be crowded. You can find people standing in long queues even during evenings. Wondering what we all were eating before McDonalds at other outlets came to Bangalore.

I like their takeaway counter. It is located outside the restaurant, and  saves you the trouble to stand in the queue. And the service is pretty fast.

Now waiting for KFC to be started closeby to Brookefields. Rumors are that they will be starting one soon in Hypercity, so lets wait and watch.

    Cottolengo Convent

Cottolengo Convent is located at ECC Road, Whitefield. It is a school for Mentally Challenged kids and also a normal school for destitute and challenged kids, and is also an orphanage. I came to know about this school from my kids, who were taken to this school as part of their school social activities. There are more than 50 inmates in the school.

    Matsya Mela 2011

Thoroughly frustrated and disappointed after being to the Matsya Mela 2011 held at Palace Grounds. To begin with, I was impressed with the advertisements about the event, and me being a live-fish enthusiast, thought will go to this event with the kids. We left home at around 2:00pm  and was near the Palace Ground by 2:30pm. As we entered the parking lot, we realised that something is not right, and it took time to realise that there is a massive BJP rally for support of our Chief Minister, where I found later that more than 10000+ people are attending. Atleast, the organizers of the Matsya Mela should have instructed us about this, and should have given a proper parking lot. Or maybe to my good luck, I got a parking in a empty ground, where there were hardly 5-6 cars. Parking it, we walked to the Mela.

There were more than 100+ exhibits , most of them aquarium vendors. Some  interesting stalls from Ministry of Fisheries and other government organizations were good. Nothing more to talk about other exhibitors, exception being the Arawana fish showcase.

Nightmare started when we came back to the Parking lot. We were covered with more than 100 KSRTC buses from all sides. It took me nearly 3 hours to move a metre from the place where I had parked the car. And almost 5 hours to just come from the parking lot. And I was not alone, there were more than 50 cars behind me in the same scenario. Not even one bus was willing to give us a small space to atleast take a turn and go back to the main entrance. Never knew that the bus drivers are so rude, can imagine others plight sharing the road space with these drivers.

    Matsya Mela 2011

Our politicians, to show case their strength will go a long way to cause the maximum inconvenience to general public. When will we have an orderly fashion of maintaining public events?

    Bryan Adams show in Bangalore

Atlast, it happened. The great event we were all waiting for in February. No words to describe the experience.

The crowd was great, and we were there at 3pm. Had to wait in the long queue for nearly 2 hours, before we were let in. Luckily managed to be in the front row. The show started at 7pm with the opening gig performed by Shaimak Davar and his group. Not great, but it was fun.

Bryan Adams entered the stage at around 7:40pm and he performed non-stop for 2 hours, belting out one hit off another. Pure magic.  “There Will Never Be Another Tonight” was the opening one, and true to the lyrics of his song, I am sure there won’t be another event like this in Bangalore for a long time.

Can’t Stop This Thing We Started, (Everything I Do) I Do It For You, 18 Till I Die, There’s Nowhere Else on Earth I’d Rather Be,  Please Forgive Me – you name his hits, all were there. He made sure that the crowd grooved to his music and his guitar.

True to his image, he made sure that his team deserved all the credits. Accompanying him were drummer Mickey Curry, guitarist Keith Scott, keyboard player Gary Breit and bassist Norm Fisher. His special tribute to Keith Scott was outstanding.

Still feels like a dream. Hope this lasts forever.

For all you Badminton lovers, Gopalan International School and Badminton Bangalore have opened a new 5 court synthetic court at their school campus in Hoodi from 1st week of February. Membership fees are Rs.1000/- for a month. Mr. Biju, the person incharge of the court, provides with coaching for an extra fee.

The courts are of international standard, and they are proposing to make this court as a Badminton Bangalore Center of Excellence Academy. The court is located at the 4th floor – so get prepared to climb the stairs. Only drawback is that the space between the courts and the walls is a bit less, so have to be a bit careful.

    Fake RBI Website

I got a post from one of the blog visitors about the RBI website located at http://rbionline.co.in/in . On navigating, I found this site to be a complete fake site, but what fools visitors is the site address, rbionline.co.in and the site’s look and feel. Please be aware that this is a fake site, and can easily fool visitors in entering sensitive information on the site.

Phising has become a huge problem, with many online sites having a clone site. If .co.in domain extensions are meant only for Indian Companies, how can anyone register a domain name rbionline.co.in ? Don’t we have any authenticity check  for atleast .co.in domain names?
