Recently I found out that the nearest railway station for all travelers to Kerala from Kundalahalli is the small station located at just 10 kms from Brookefields. I used to always take the Bangalore Cantonment Station, especially when traveling on Intercity Express. One of my friends suggested this station, and I thought will try this, as you can avoid the complete traffic till Bangalore Cantonment Station.
Karmelaram, also referred to as Carmelaram, lies between Bellandur and Sarjapur. If you are travelling through ORR, you can take a left turn just after the Unwind Island and travel straight, till you reach an intersection, where you have to take left. The popular landmark here is a tree in the middle of the road which acts as a divider. Travel straight for another 2 kms, and take a right turn. Just 100 mts away is the station. Alternate route will be to reach the end of ORR near Iblur junction, take left towards Wipro, pass through the Marble stone shops and then you can see a board on your left.
Karmelaram is a small station, with just two tracks. There is no markings where the coaches are going to stop, so you have to take a pretty big guess. The station is pretty clean and has got ample parking space. Autorickshaws are also available. Currently, Bangalore-Ernakulam Intercity express and Bangalore-Cannannore Express stops here for a minute.
